Swimming with Manta Rays ? | Yummy Hawaiian Food ? | October VLOG

#BigIslandHawaii #mantarays

Mahalo for watching my VLOG! ? Hope it brought some adventure and laughter to your day.
Sorry this video is so late! As you can tell, I had to cram quite a lot from Day 2 and 3 into one video ? They were both jam packed days, exploring the most unique parts of Big Island (both land and sea). Thank you so much to Mama and Papa Lee for inviting me to come along on their lovely vacation getaway! Check out Episode 1 if you haven’t already, and keep an eye out for Episode 3!

[VLOG stops ?]:
? The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort – this is where we were staying
? IKENA Landing (breakfast) – Loco Moco was delicious
? Yong’s Kal-Bi (Korean lunch in Waimea) – recommend the BBQ platter
? Foodland (local grocery in Waimea) – try to pick up some local honey
? Big Island, Kona Manta Ray Night Snorkel – Small Group (booked via tripadvisor) – one of the most memorable experiences. Highly recommend. There are other companies available also and prices generally range from $80 – $150 per person. The total time we were in the water was about 40 minutes. The boat ride was 20minutes out and 20minutes back. Highly recommend as there are very few places in the world that offer this experience.
? Waipi’o Lookout (Valley of the Kings) – the road down to the village is closed, but the lookout is still well worth the visit.
? Tex Drive in (local eatery) – their malasada (Hawaiian donuts) and Kalua pork was delicious! Great stop if you’re visiting Waipi’o Lookout.
? Akaka Falls – short 0.5 mile loop. The waterfall is beautiful, but the pathway there is even more breathtaking. It makes you feel like you are in the 2009 Avatar movie.
? Hilo Farmers Market – recommend picking up some fresh sweet fruits as snacks
? Volcano National Park – recommend visiting an hour or two before sunset
? Thurston Lava Tube – short loop that takes you through an underground tunnel
? Kilauea Iki Overlook – short walk away from the Thurston Lava Tube that overlooks the Ike trail. Personally was glad that I was looking down at Ike trail rather than walking it…^-^
? Steam vents – two very active vents that spew out the lava steam
? Kilauea Caldera Overlook – perfect overlook to see how large the crater is
? Devastation Trail – MUST GO AT NIGHT! It’s 1 mile round trip on a nicely paved road. Some people even brought strollers. The stars were crystal clear, and we got to see the milky way galaxy throughout the entire walk. At the end of the path, you can see the glow of the active volcano in the far off distance. Recommend taking red light headlamps as white flashlights disturb your night vision and those around you.
